Text files (that is, plain or formatted text, office documents, PDF files and picture captions) store the plain text from the file as well as the original layout of the document. This text is used as the basis for word counts. But you can also see and copy this text using the

on the menu.
Text is shown selected so you can copy it immediately (on Windows with CTRL+C, right click then Copy, or Edit > Copy, or on a Mac with APPLE+C or Edit > Copy).
For brainstorming documents, the plain text also includes the text of any comments. This gives a straightforward way to make a new document comprising those comments. (You can also obtain these from the form).
